In this project, Headway served as the general contractor, taking full responsibility for the Ammonia Fuel Supply System at the platform level. The successful delivery demonstrates the company’s integrated capabilities across the entire value chain of marine alternative-fuel systems—from core module development and system integration to solution design and end-to-end engineering execution.
As the global marine ammonia bunkering market transitions from technical validation toward commercial engineering application, the industry's demand is shifting accordingly. Beyond standalone equipment, there is a growing need for complete system solutions and dependable engineering delivery, both for test platforms and onboard vessel applications. In response, Headway demonstrated a turnkey engineering approach for this project, delivering a fully customized, end-to-end solution. The scope includes Ammonia Fuel Storage Tanks, Ammonia Fuel Supply Module, Unloading System, Ammonia Fuel supply Pumps, Ammonia Vapour Processing System, Flammable Gas Detector, Fire-Extinguishing System and Double-Wall Pipes. Forming a comprehensive ecosystem that integrates storage, transfer, supply, and safety assurance.

Conceived as a critical platform for future shipboard applications, the test facility was designed and constructed in strict accordance with maritime standards, while fully meeting land-based acceptance requirements. Headway's role extended well beyond that of a conventional equipment supplier. The company acted as the overall system integrator, overseeing system decomposition, interface coordination, module integration, and full-scope engineering delivery to ensure the platform achieved its intended operational performance.
Building on its experience across both methanol and ammonia fuel systems, Headway continues to advance the productization and engineering deployment of alternative-fuel supply solutions. Its offerings feature modular design and redundancy architecture to ensure high reliability. To date, the company has delivered more than 20 sets of core equipment, including Ammonia Fuel Supply Systems, Fuel Valve Units, and Ammonia Injector Cooling Water Systems. The product portfolio has secured type approvals from major classification societies—CCS, DNV, and RINA—and is compatible with leading engine licensors, including WinGD and Everllence.
The successful delivery of the YUCHAI MARINE POWER 6X52DF-A-1.0 Ammonia DF- engine test platform represents another important milestone for Headway in the ammonia fuel supply segment. It also reflects the company's ongoing transition from a supply-chain participant to a system integrator and platform developer.
Looking ahead, Headway will continue to accelerate the maturation and onboard application of alternative-fuel supply systems, supporting the industry's shift from "test-capable" to "application-ready" solutions. The company remains committed to enabling the global marine and ship-power sectors to progress toward net-zero emissions and higher energy efficiency.
