Recently, Headway Technology Group (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. successfully delivered both Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) and Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCS) to Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) on three 4,500TEU container carriers. The project was completed in a shipyard in Taiwan.
In this project, Headway secured an effective delivery of products with the concordance of full product flow including 3D-scanning, design, pre-fabrication, manufacturing, retrofitting, commissioning, and service. "The 'One-Stop Service' and 'Turn-Key Solution' could save a great deal of cost caused by the on-site change of design." Said the project manager of Headway.
By the seamless dovetail of design, pre-fabrication, and installation, Headway greatly eliminated the negligence and inaccuracies that usually happened across the communication among manufacturer, designing company, and shipyard. In this way, Headway improves the cost-effectiveness of the retrofitting while delivering the system on time.
Under the influence of oil price falling, low-sulfur fuel price has a significant shrink in 2020. However, some experts said that this situation will not turn to normalization, and the price difference between high-sulfur fuel and low-sulfur fuel will continue to expand gradually. In addition, the hazards to the crew and the environment caused by low-sulfur fuel have already aroused the attention of international organizations such as the United Nations Human Rights Council.
According to the project manager, Headway got a spike of cooperation on OceanGuard®EGCS in the fourth quarter of 2020, which proves that shipowners' willingness in installing EGCS is gradually increasing. The recovery of the market is almost a foregone conclusion.
