Headway Technology Co., Ltd. recently announced their OceanGuard® Ballast Water Management System has submitted the application for United States Coast Guard (USCG) final type approval.
According to the Headway’s project leader, OceanGuard® BWMS has been proved to be extraordinarily dependable and efficient under extreme conditions throughout the tests. During the land-based tests, OceanGuard® BWMS smoothly overcame the challenges from low temperature, low salinity, high turbidity and high organism density without any auxiliary equipment. In shipboard tests, Headway adopted long and short holding time to verify the biological efficiency and ability to deal with algae re-growth. Also, Headway’s self-designed filter has been tested in muddy water and proofed to be a perfect solution for ballast water filtration.
Headway has stated that all models including Ex-Proof types of OceanGuard® BWMS have been covered in the submission.Since no change made to the system during the tests, all delivered systems will also meet the USCG regulation.
